Information for new residents

Welcome to BSN! Here you will find essential information for your stay, including guidelines for key usage, reporting faults and deficiencies, waste disposal, home insurance, ventilation, and internet connection. For more details and frequently asked questions, check our FAQ.

Keys

Upon check-in, you should have received a personal key fob for your apartment. The mailbox key is pre-installed in your room. Important information about the door locks: Always take your key fob with you when leaving the room. If you use the fob twice on the lock, it will engage the auto-lock feature, and you risk being locked out.

Issues or Defects in the Apartment?

The apartment should have been pre-checked by BSN, but if there are any issues or if something is missing from the inventory list, you must create a maintenance order on your page at Hybel.no.

Waste Disposal

BSN provides waste chutes at the main entrance and a larger waste room at the back of Block B. Residents are responsible for proper waste disposal. It is prohibited to leave garbage, cardboard, furniture, etc., in corridors, stairwells, or on the ground around waste facilities. This is considered a breach of the lease agreement, and the cost of removal will be charged to the tenant. In case of a rare stoppage in the waste system, contact BSN and store your waste until the issue is resolved.

Home Insurance

BSN’s insurance covers only the building and BSN-owned inventory. This means that in the event of a fire, water leak, etc., you are responsible for insuring your belongings. If many units are affected by an incident, BSN will not be able to find alternative accommodation for those affected. Without home insurance, you risk being without accommodation in the middle of the semester.

Ventilation in Corridors

If you experience smoke while cooking, it is important not to vent it into the corridors. The fire alarm in the corridor has a direct alarm connection to the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service, which will lead to a response. Unnecessary responses will be charged to the tenant who triggers the alarm.

Internet Connection

You need a network cable to connect directly to a PC, or you can connect your own router to get wireless internet for all your devices. On the wall in each bedroom, there is a box with an input for a network cable. Only one of them will work, usually the one on the right.
